FIBERS AND FABRICS
Engineered for Value

Our cost effective products have come to define the industry standard. In fact, over 50% of the North American automotive industry relies on Formed Fiber Technologies to deliver premium quality products and technical expertise in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

FFT produces polyester fiber, nonwoven sheets, rollgoods, and thermoformed products
Fibers & Fabric

Our products combine stylish appearance and practical durability with surprising affordability.

Add to that our penchant for unparalleled customer satisfaction and it is clear that FFT offers an excellent value.

The principal fibers used in making our needlepunched nonwoven fabrics are solution dyed polyester and polypropylene.

We manufacture much of our own polyester fiber, using post-consumer and post-industrial recycled materials.

Many FFT products can also incorporate natural fibers from renewable resources. FFT continually strives to develop new methods of recycling materials and reducing waste.

NONWOVEN FABRIC

Con-Form®   is an innovative and cost-effective trunk lining product. It is wear resistant and can be molded to fit sheet metal contours. CON-FORM® is aesthetic, functional, environmentally friendly. It is easy to install and maintains its good appearance through years of service. Also, CON-FORM® is non-rattling and does not require isolation pads used on plastic trim components.
Con-Form® II is a lighter and more moldable version of our original Con-Form
Con-Form II
CON-FORM® products have inherent structural integrity and can be designed with varying degrees of rigidity.
[Technical Specifications]

Con-Form II®   is a patented material suitable for all molded trunk trim applications. It offers a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio and deeper drawer compared to the original CON-FORM® while providing the same features of quality and appearance.

Mat-Form®   represents yet another innovation in the product line developed for the automotive industry. MAT-FORM® offers key advantages over competing materials:    [Technical Specifications]

  • Superior textile appearance
  • Easy to install
  • Excellent bearding and wear resistance
  • Lightweight
  • Economical

Tara-Lock®   nonwovens are the latest in a long line of molded and nonwoven product advancements developed by FFT. Designed specifically to solve the bearding (fiber pullout) problem of veloured carpets, TARA-LOCK® is manufactured using an innovative process that utilizes low-melt polymeric fibers instead of traditional latex back coatings. TARA-LOCK® offers a variety of surface styling options combined with vastly superior bearding and abrasion resistance. Some of the major benefits of TARA-LOCKReg over traditional latex-backed material include:
[Technical Specifications]

  • 20-30% lighter weight
  • Inherently more uniform
  • Up to 5 times better abrasion properties
  • Easily molded
  • Environment- friendlier manufacturing process
  • For cut and sew operation, less boardy, less needle heat up, easier on operators' hands

Package Tray, like TARA-LOCK®, is made from solution dyed polyester and offers excellent properties:    [Technical Specifications]

  • Excellent appearance, texture and feel
  • Eliminates need for chemical coatings
  • Low fogging; material is not surface coated
  • Abrasion and bearding resistance
  • UV degradation and fade resistant
  • Meets requirements for strength, elongation and tear resistance

Dura-Bond® is a decorative stitch-bonded needlepunched nonwoven carpet suitable for use in automotive and truck interior trim for seating, door panels, headliners and cab liner.    [Technical Specifications]

Sewable Felt is a decorative color-matched or color-coordinated needlepunched nonwoven surface carpet combined to a thermally bonded, dimensionally stable nonwoven substrate. The product is specifically engineered for cut-and-sew applications such as seatbacks where a product with excellent stability and seam strength is required, combined with ease of sewing.    [Technical Specifications]

Nonwoven Carpet is a needlepunched decorative and functional carpet available in a wide variety of constructions, colors and fiber types to meet the specific design and functional requirements of a multitude of applications.   [Technical Specifications]

POLYESTER FIBER

Our process to creating high quality needlepunched nonwoven fabrics starts with our production of solution dyed polyester staple fibers from post-consumer and post-industrial recycled resins, and supplies most of our polyester fiber needs.

With a capacity of 50 million pounds per year, FFT's subsidiary, Color-Fi (www.colorfi.com) produces polyester staple fiber for a variety of applications.

We manufacture solution dyed fibers in a full spectrum of colors. Semi-dull, natural and optically bright whites are also available.

Custom color matches are provided in production runs as small as 10 thousand pounds for customers with specific color requirements.

Tow blends of two or more colors are available for customers who require accurate and reproducible preblending of component fibers.

Fibers are produced in deniers ranging from 3 to 1,000.

We're ready to support all major supply chain management needs. Whatever your company's manufacturing philosophy may be, our fiber will provide the quality raw material you require.
